Christmas and New Year Specials!

We’ve had many delighted visitors staying at Summer Isles Croft despite us opening for business late in the year and after most folk had made their summer bookings – I’d add some of the comments that have been left in our visitors book but don’t want to disturb the couple who arrived yesterday who will be settling in to a calm and sunny Coigach.

I’ve just added details of our Christmas and New Year offers to the website Bookings page – with Christmas falling on Friday this year we’ve foregone the usual Saturday change-over day to allow folk to stay over and enjoy either the Christmas period and/or New Year, ignoring the days of the week. If you’re concerned about the weather over Christmas and New Year, we’ve no greater risk of snow here than anywhere else in the UK – in fact we very seldom get real frost here being so close to the sea. The mountains may well be prettily snow-clad but the villages and roads are usually snow-free.

renovationAfter a long period of renovation, Summer Isles Croft is ready to receive guests! With Iain busy as a locum vet and with community development work and Lesley busy teaching and then setting up her ceramics business it’s been a long time coming – but looking around it now we know it’s been worth it! We’re grateful to friends John Maclean and his wife Kitty who booked the cottage for an Achiltibuie wedding they were coming to which spurred us on get it finished a few weeks ago – John’s a name to look out for, former member of the Beta Band, then BAFTA winner for his short film Pitch Black Heist and now awaiting the release of his first feature film, Slow West, written and directed by him, shot partly in Achiltibuie, and already award-winning – here’s a link to the film’s trailer – see if you can spot bits of Achiltibuie in the opening scenes!

Knowing how many other local holiday properties get block-booked year after year with visitors returning for the same prime weeks it’s a great chance to get in quick and see if Summer Isles Croft suits you. We’ve currently got two bedrooms available and will be adding a third when it’s ready.
